DUBBED IN ENGLISH | DRAMA - CRIME | SWEDEN | TV-MA
Considered to be the series that started the Nordic Noir genre, The Bridge (Bron-Broen) follows Detective Saga Noren as she and her colleagues investigate a string of crimes committed around Oresund Bridge, the conduit between Sweden and Denmark.
The body of a woman is found in the middle of Oresund Bridge-on the exact border between Sweden and Denmark. Detectives Saga Noren from Malmo and Martin Rohde from Copenhagen are sent to investigate, and soon realize it's not one murder, but two.
By using journalist Daniel Ferbe as a mouthpiece, the killer announces that the murder on the bridge was just the beginning. When he reveals his mission, Saga and Martin realize they're dealing with a far more calculated killer than they imagined.
On a mission to point out society's most unpleasant truths, the killer targets the homeless community to show how the system has failed them. A homeless man is kidnapped to raise the question: what is the price of a human being?
The kidnapped man's survival becomes a race against time and depends on four wealthy investors' willingness to pay. Saga and Martin try to catch the meticulous killer off balance by doing something unexpected, but end up walking straight into danger.
The killer exposes the lack of health care for mental illness by grooming several schizophrenic people to commit violent crimes. Saga and Martin find a teenage girl who has run away from home. Could she be a key witness that leads them to the killer?
The killer kidnaps an officer who was found not guilty in the death of an immigrant, in order to expose the failure of the state's integration policy. For the first time Saga and the killer make contact.
To expose the final truth-society's apathy to child labor when it's not their own children-the killer captures a school bus full of children and demands that five companies be set on fire in order to save them. Saga develops a shocking theory.
After mounting evidence and a witness statement, Martin and Saga finally make an arrest, but is he their guy? Now that all five societal truths have been exposed, is the killer finished? Saga suspects the killer's work is not yet done.
As Martin grapples with issues at home, he and Saga finally put the puzzle pieces together to pinpoint the identity of the killer, who turns out to have a long history with Martin. Could the killer's ultimate plan be a personal one?
After the killer kidnaps his latest victim, it dawns on Saga that his final move is directed at Martin, who grows increasingly desperate and unhinged in his hunt for the killer. Can Saga stop Martin from doing something he'll regret?
